Friends, also known as Quakers, have a long history of involvement and presence in Russia, dating back to the time of Peter the Great's early outreach to Western Europe. Friends House Moscow, created in 1994, is one of the most recent manifestations of this presence. Read more about this history here.

| Mission |
Friends House Moscow is an initiative of Friends worldwide which seeks to encourage spiritual growth and the development of a civil society based on mutual trust and community cooperation. See the full mission statement, and the program priorities that flow from it, here.

| Board |
The Board of Friends House Moscow is made up of Friends from Russia and (at this writing) from Germany, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The clerk (presiding officer) of the Board is Bonnie Grotjahn.

A small team of Russian-speaking staff representatives and interns provide program support, administration and hospitality at Friends House Moscow. There is usually at least one member of this team from outside Russia. Check here to see whether these services opportunities might be something for you to consider.
