Friends
and
Russia

In Russian: www.quakers.ru. The library page of this site includes a translation of Richenda Scott’s Quakers in Russia.

Same site's English page: www.quakers.ru/english.htm, with links to a variety of Friends’ yearly meetings worldwide.

Encyclopedia-style articles about Friends in Russian (mb-soft.com/believe/trc/quakers.htm) and in English (mb-soft.com/believe/txc/quakers.htm) - including some mention of the majority of Friends worldwide who are evangelical in theology.

Friends International Library's current project is a Chechen/Russian/English book for young people, The Power of Goodness, based on the classic Lighting Candles in the Dark. Their Web site (fil.quaker.org) tells about this book and their other Russian-language Quaker publications.

This independent Russian Baptist Web site includes (in Russian) a section of teaching on Christian pacifism in biblical and historical context: rusbaptist.stunda.org/dop/mirolubie.html. Specific Russian-language resources for conscientious objectors and advocates of alternative service are on the ags.demokratia.ru site.

Regional

Friends World Committee for Consultation, European and Middle East Section (emes.quaker.eu.org) maintains contacts, arranges conferences, and facilitates Friendly intervisitation among Friends groups throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Friends
(Quakers)

The largest collection of Friends Web links (and the host of this FHM Web site) is www.quaker.org. The Friends represented in these listings range from evangelical and holiness-oriented Friends to those whose links with Christianity are tenuous at best. We are providing this list as a convenient and well-organized resource for seekers and students, and we do not claim to identify with every possible variation.

The Quaker Heritage Press (www.qhpress.org/index.html) provides access to many important Quaker writings, in English.

On
Russia

The Friends and Partners site, www.friends-partners.org, has been on the World Wide Web for nearly fifteen years. It features many useful articles and links for students of culture and language, exchange programs, pen pals, computer users wrestling with Cyrillic fonts, and any non-Russians interested in Russia, as well as Russians with international interests.

Prof. Paul D. Steeves of Stetson University's history department maintains the very helpful Russia Religion News service. The links represent a variety of religious viewpoints and include organizations concerned about religious freedom in the region.
